About Our Worship

Our Meeting is open to all, including children. A Meeting for Worship after the manner of Friends, also known as Quakers, is a period of receptive silent worship. This manner of worship is based on two convictions: first, that there is that of God in each of us, sometimes called the Inner Light, and second, that in the silence we can have direct communication with this Light or Spirit.

The silence may last for the entire worship period, but that does not mean nothing is happening. In the silence we are all seeking to come closer to God and each other. We quiet our voices so we may better hear the voice of the Spirit. After some time, the silence may be broken when someone feels led by the Spirit to share something that she or he feels will deepen and enrich the worship. Each message is received in openness. Whatever is pressing on our minds and hearts may be brought into the silence and the presence of the Spirit that we experience in our midst.
